Just a Little 'PR'...Duped!...Miley Cyrus

The continuing controversy surrounding Miley Cyrus’ photo spread for an upcoming issue of Vanity Fair magazine has become an international news story. With domestic coverage in the New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times and Newsweek, the story has also been featured in other newspapers throughout the world, The London Times, The Globe and the Sydney Morning Hearld in Australia.

Celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz took the photos which include an image of the 15-year-old Hannah Montana star clutching a sheet with her bare shoulders and upper back exposed. Cyrus, who has apologized to her fans for the photo, said in a statement she “took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be ‘artistic.’”

Leibovitz says she and Cyrus discussed plans for the photo before she shot it, adding she is sorry the portrait “has been misinterpreted.” In the media reports, journalists have blamed a variety of people for the photo being taken, including Leibovitz, Vanity Fair editors and Cyrus’ father, Billy Ray Cyrus, who was present for at least part of the photo shoot. Billy Ray Cyrus has not commented regarding the Vanity Fair feature.

Now ladies and gentlemen, that’s how the Spin Machine works. I was reading a slew of articles this morning that espoused that Ms. Miley Cyrus, yep all 15-years of her, by all accounts should be a billionaire by the time she’s 18-years-old. Be that as it may, as for me, I say ‘good on ya’ Miley Cyrus a.k.a. Hannah Montana.’

What is totally surprising to me is the fact that everyone knows about child labor laws; the Hollywood gossip tabloids; and how the publicity game works there. But if only for a moment, without the smoke and mirrors, let’s look at reality.

First, all of Ms. Cyrus’ handlers were there; prior to the shoot, Ms. Annie Leibovitz in her professional way of doing things had a meeting with Ms. Cyrus weeks before the shoot where they discussed everything from soup to nuts including every photograph that is in the editorial. Moreover, and let me make this perfectly clear-Never at any time during the shoot or otherwise-was Ms. Cyrus ever naked or topless. Goodness people get your minds out of the gutter!

Just more spin and getting duped by a 15-year-old really looks bad on society. A daughter sits cuddled in her father’s lap and every pedophile from here to there is getting crazy. Slow down folks…it’s a fifteen year old girl for goodness sake! Not just any 15-year-old mind you, but a clever, talented, smart, and sure duped you 15-year-old gurl.

At right, add the magic of Annie Leibovitz, some digitizing and just a tad of photoshop and Viola! watch the style of the greats! There is nothing offensive about this photograph, nothing. I know too many friends and or acquaintances that have far more revealing photos of their kids framed around the house.

Just one last bit and well wrap this neatly for now; (1) Wouldn't we all rather this very simple yet, stunning photo of our children, or Miley, rather than to see them getting out of a car with no panties on? Hmmm... (2) What would I do to have a first off run of this print for investment purposes...what wouldn't I do?

Did Miley Cyrus make a mistake for 'apologizing'; or, did she merely let out the news of the new photo session with Vanity Fair Magazine?yet, stunning photo of our children, or Miley, rather than to see them getting out of a car with no panties on? Hmmm... (2) What would I do to have a first off run of this print for investment purposes...what wouldn't I do?
